June 14, 2001 Hello to all, This letter is an invitation for you to help "show off " our fine prairie town and lifestyle and provide some "genuine rural hospitality" to folks visiting from other parts of the country and the world! These visitors will be coming to Morris on July 26 - 28, 2001 as part of the "Joint International Summit on Community and Rural Development". The main portion of the Summit activities will be held in Duluth followed by an option for people to join a motor coach tour which will take them through the forest, lake and prairie areas of Minnesota as well as study the dynamics of viable rural communities along the way. This tour will feature a visit to Morris! Local activities are being planned to highlight the "hotbed" of research and education programs, local businesses with global markets, farms/ag production, innovative approaches to community and rural development and the "small town" charm of our community. Since the visit to Morris includes two overnights, these visitors will need a place to stay. You can contribute by offering overnight accommodations as a Host Home! This demonstrates our rural hospitality at its finest while providing an opportunity to learn and share from/with folks having a different set of life experiences. As a Host Home you are also invited to participate in all of the activities offered to the touring visitors. See the back of this letter for additional information about the Joint International Summit on Community and Rural Development and the Post-Conference Study Tour. The exciting, though still a bit "tentative" itinerary is also included. If you are interested in being a Host you will need to provide:
