July 26, Thursday - Duluth to Morris

8 AM Depart Duluth, Hwy 2 west

9:30 AM Arrive in Grand Rapids (81 miles from Duluth)

  • Site visit(1 hour) :
  • Informal visiting/networking on the bus
  • Speakers:
    • Paul Schuster, Forestedge Winery - Entrepreneur business (20 minutes)
12:00 Noon Arrive at Forestedge Winery, near Bemidji (70 miles from Grand Rapids)
  • Site visit ( ½ hour):
    • Forestedge Winery - MN grown berry wines, birch wood kitchen utensils
      • Free wine tasting/Gift Shop
1:00 PM Arrive at Itaska Park - headwaters of the Mississippi (20 miles from Forestedge Winery)
  • Site visit (1 ¾ hours):
    • Itaska Park
      • Lunch at Douglas Lodge (1/2 hour)
      • Naturalist Travel Tour - Ben Toma (1 ¼ hour)
      • Includes Headwaters Visit

10 AM - 2 PM "International Info Share and Networking" - Oyate Hall, UMM (4 hours)

2:15 PM - 5:15 PM Mini-Tours (Two tours, 1 hour each)
  • Manufacturing - Superior Industries of Morris, Inc (International markets)
  • DENCO (Diversified Energy Company) - ethanol plant
  • Noordman's Farm (organic multi-crop/animal, self-market)
  • Stevens County Historical Society
