Students interested in applying for the exchange should contact the study abroad adviser ahead of time to provide notification of their intention to apply. The study abroad adviser will run an academic and disciplinary record check for students applying for the exchange. This exchange is only available for University of Minnesota, Morris students. If you are from another university you may be able to participate in Kansai Gaidai’s Asian Studies Program by applying as an independent student.
Please submit these items to the Academic Center for Enrichment well in advance of the application deadline. The Study Abroad Adviser and nomination committee may choose to interview interested students prior to providing a nomination for the exchange. If a student receives a nomination, they will then be entered in to the Kansai Gaidai on-line application system by the Study Abroad Adviser and emailed a username and password to be used when completing the on-line application. It is the student’s responsibility to submit all application materials before the application deadline.
Kansai Gaidai University sets the application deadline for fall semester and the full academic year exchange as May 15 and the spring semester only deadline as November 1. These are subject to change by Kansai Gaidai.
In order to allow adequate time for the applicant review and nomination process and time for nominated students to complete the on-line application prior to Kansai Gaidai’s deadline, the required materials for review process are due to the Study Abroad Adviser by no later than April 1 for fall semester or the full academic year exchange and September 15 for the spring semester only. As applications for Kansai Gaidai are accepted on a rolling basis, review materials will also be considered on a rolling basis so students that wish to apply early are able to do so.
