Global Student Teaching: Get ready on-line!

    Each spring, UMM is proud to offer "Education in a Global Context," an on-line course for anyone interested in education, international issues, or overseas student teaching opportunities.

    UMM credit is available for this course.

  • Goals
    Through this course, students will:
  • Determine the knowledge, skills, and dispositions required of educators for the foreseeable future.
  • Apply theoretical frameworks and multiple perspectives within a global context to the study of educational issues.
  • Compare and contrast the educational policies and practices in school systems and factors that influence educational decision making in a variety of national and cultural settings.
  • Demonstrate effective use of technological tools in the teaching/learning environment.
  • Demonstrate intercultural competence through speaking, writing, and application of a global perspective to the study of education.

    Expectations
    This is an interactive on-line course that includes reading, research, reflection, writing, reporting, and whole class and small group interaction with a set schedule of responsibilities.

    Attending scheduled on-line sessions, being thoroughly prepared for each class, and submitting all assignments on time (no late papers will be accepted) is presumed.

    Collaborating responsibly with colleagues, being respectful throughout discussions, speaking knowledgably about each topic and demonstrating sensitivity to cross-cultural perspectives and respect for group process are expected of participants in this course.

    UMM credit is available.
