Short-term International Practicum

The International Practicum in Education serves students who wish to complete a short in-school observation or tutor aide experience overseas, perhaps for a program application, an introduction to the education profession, or a subject methods course. The practicum can also be used as an elective or to fulfill any program requirement where the is participant is expected to:

  • observe classroom instruction from the teacher's perspective
  • work with individual and small groups of students
  • teach short lessons and assist in the classroom
  • complete guided reflections and receive feedback from professional educators
  • gain an international comparative understanding of curriculum and teaching practice
  • explore the role of teaching and the education profession.

Completing a short practicum in another country allows participants to bring a global perspective to their teaching careers and is an excellent option for those who cannot afford the time or expense of completing a full term overseas.
