Credit Awarded by Examination
The Scholastic Committee awards credit for examinations through Advanced Placement (AP), the College Level Examination Program (CLEP), International Baccalaureate (IB), and special examinations arranged individually. Students must present a transcript from the agency where the credits originate; for special examinations, students meet with the Secretary of the Committee to arrange the examinations.
The University of Minnesota has a system-wide policy for awarding credit by examination.
- The minimum score for awarding AP credit is 3
- The minimum score for awarding IB credit is 5, or 4 if part of the diploma
- Scores on CLEP examinations follow national norms and vary by subject
