Info about how the U.S.A. handles cards and money: CD - As of Fall 2001, our CD was worth $2,100. At the 10/22/01 meeting, we voted to increase the principal to $2,300 (taking the $200 from our savings account). UNDUES - Undues are deposited into our CHECKING account. SCHOLARSHIP - Our $300 scholarship comes from our checking account. SAVINGS - The interest from our CD goes into our savings account. We transfer money from there into our checking account if we need it for the scholarship. DINNER CERTIFICATES - the ten $10 gift certificates to attend the Recognition dinner are paid for with funds from our savings account (see 10/22/01 minutes). Honorees do not need to compete for certificates because they attend the dinner free. DONATIONS/CONTRIBUTIONS - in the spring of 2006, the USA Executive Committee was asked to make an emergency (i.e. immediate) contribution to the Positive Poster campaign in the amount of $50. Chair Rebecca Webb informed the USAEC (and, at the Fall 2007 meeting, the entire organization) that Executive Committees are often permitted to spend $50 or $100 without approval of the entire organization. No objections were raised. CARDS - If notified by any member of the campus community, the secretary of the USAEC will send a card on behalf of the USA to a USA member in the event of: Hospitalization Birth Death of a nuclear family member (spouse/partner, parent, child... includes step-people but not in-laws. This practice was put into writing and presented to the entire organization in the fall of 2005.
