Stipends and funds for pursuing research or creative activity

Morris Academic Partnership (MAP)
UMM's Morris Academic Partnership (MAP) program provides academically talented third-year students the opportunity to earn up to $4,000 assisting faculty with scholarly and creative projects. MAP students undertake assignments that enhance their intellectual competence and enrich their potential for graduate or professional study. More info.

Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP)
UROP is a University-wide program in which the UMM campus participates. Like MAP, UROP encourages undergraduate students to conduct research or pursue academic interests in partnership with faculty. Awards are made twice yearly. More info.

Multi-Ethnic Mentorship Program (MMP)
The Multi-Ethnic Mentorship Program (MMP) connects students with faculty and staff in a relationship that promotes academic success while developing greater involvement in out-of-class activities. Benefits include a $1,000 stipend and exposure to an array of programs and services that develop practical academic skills and clarify professional interests. Open to students of color with second-year standing. More info.

Funds for travel and presentation expenses

Bos Research Fund
The Bos Research Fund was created by family and friends in honor of UMM graduate Angela Bos (shown left with 2001 Commencement speaker Senator Paul Wellstone) to enhance the undergraduate research experiences of UMM students. Funds are available for travel expenses, conference registration, and production costs associated with undergraduate research activity. All students are eligible to apply; preference will be given to juniors, seniors and first-time applicants. Owen and Frances Tate Memorial Fund for Student Learning
The Owen and Frances Tate Memorial Fund for Student Learning honors the memories of Owen and Frances Tate by supporting student learning activities at UMM that do not have other funding sources available. Matching funds are available to cover travel expenses for students presenting scholarly work at symposia and professional meetings or engaging in artistic activities, research projects, or performances beyond the UMM campus community that will showcase the University of Minnesota, Morris to a broader learning community. All students are eligible to apply. Two awards of up to $500 each will be given each year.
