Everyone at UMM treasures the pristine prairie and wide blue sky surrounding our campus, but it was UMM students who took the lead in calling for a task force on sustainability and renewability issues on campus. Over the past few years, those initiatives—including the first large-scale wind turbine operation at a U.S. public institution—have led to UMM being honored with an EPA Green Power Leadership Award. Sustainability efforts touch nearly all aspects of campus life: power, food, water, transportation, waste management, academic study, and research.
