Kudos for UMM OCTOBER 2007 Cosmo Girl! lists UMM among 100 best colleges for women. The University of Minnesota, Morris offers an extraordinary college experience for women, says Cosmo Girl! UMM is listed among 100 colleges nationwide in Cosmo Girl!'s 100 Best Colleges, a supplement to the October 2007 issue. Read more. OCTOBER 2007 Campus Historic Preservation Plan receives Minnesota Preservation Award. The UMM Historic Preservation Plan was awarded the Minnesota Preservation Award this month. The plan was honored in the Stewardship Award category and praised as "one of the most comprehensive in the nation." Read more. AUGUST 2007 Princeton Review designates UMM "Best in the Midwest"... again. The University of Minnesota, Morris has again been designated as "Best in the Midwest" in The Princeton Review's 2008 survey of college students. UMM is one of only 161 colleges and universities named. Outstanding professors, financial assistance and campus atmosphere were among the positive aspects mentioned by students. Read more. NOVEMBER 2006 UMM lauded by Barron's. The University of Minnesota, Morris is one of the Best Buys in College Education, according to Barron's Ninth Edition. Colleges are selected to appear in the publication based on various criteria, including tuition rates as well as the results of a questionnaire that is completed by the dean of students and by students. Read more. OCTOBER 2006 UMM Center receives Carter Partnership Award. The Center for Small Towns at UMM and the City of Morris together won the 2006 Carter Partnership Award for Campus-Community Collaboration. The award was presented by Minnesota Campus Compact during ceremonies held October 30, 2006 at the St. Paul RiverCentre. Read more. OCTOBER 2006 UMM joins inaugural committee on renewable energy. UMM will join only 25 institutions nationwide in creating a national higher education steering committee on renewable energy. Lowell Rasmussen, UMM's associate vice chancellor for physical plant and master planning, has been invited to serve as a founding member of the Higher Education Steering Committee (HEC) of the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE). Rasmussen has played a significant role within the University of Minnesota in initiating renewable energy projects and developing partnerships across the University that advance sustainable energy priorities. UMM is again ranked number four in the list of five top public liberal arts colleges in the nation by U.S. News & World Report in its 2007 rankings of America's Best Colleges. This is the sixth consecutive year that UMM has achieved this status and has been the only college in the Midwest on the list. Read more. AUGUST 2006 The Princeton Review names UMM a Best Midwestern College. UMM is one of 163 colleges named a Best Midwestern College by The Princeton Review in its 2007 Best 361 Colleges rankings. The publication's goal is to "identify some of the colleges and universities that [they] feel stand out within each region." Read more. JANUARY 2006 Kiplinger's ranks UMM among best values in the nation. UMM ranked ninth among top schools as a best value for out-of-state students in the latest Kiplinger's Personal Finance survey of the 100 best values among public higher education institutions. UMM was the only Minnesota university to make the list. Read more. OCTOBER 2005 First Washington Monthly lauds UMM. The University of Minnesota, Morris recently received another national accolade: UMM has been ranked third nationally among all public liberal arts colleges in the first annual Washington Monthly College Guide. Read more SEPTEMBER 2005 UMM praised for on-site power generation. The University of Minnesota, Morris has received a 2005 Green Power Leadership Award for on-site generation. The award will be presented during the Tenth National Green Power Marketing Conference to be held October 24-26 in Austin, Texas. UMM is one of only two Minnesota schools cited in the magazine's recent "How to Get Into College" issue. Carleton College in Northfield is also mentioned in the category.
