Explore the Morris Area

While the community maintains its small town flavor, you may be surprised by all the things to see and do in the Morris area: shopping, fishing, biking, bird watching, cross country skiing, movies, hiking, bowling, disc golf, art and historical exhibits, swimming, dining out, garden viewing, theatre, hunting, musical entertainment, snowmobiling, working out, sipping coffee, camping…and the list goes on and on.

The Morris Area Chamber of Commerce provides a great starting point for planning activities, but here are a few suggestions that may be of interest as you explore the Morris area.

Visit the beautiful West Central Research and Outreach Center gardens.

Hike the Morris Wetland Management District trails. If you enjoy nature photography, feel free to use the photo blind.

As all Morris students know, the Morris Public Library has great movies to check out—free!

Learn about regional history at the Stevens County Historical Society.

Three unique co-ops are definitely worth a visit:

Play disc golf at the Pomme de Terre Park. The University of Minnesota, Morris Class of 2008 coordinated this recreational addition to the Morris community.

Check out the comprehensive Morris Area Events calendar for seasonal events like Prairie Pioneer Days and Stevens County Fair.

The nonprofit Common Cup Coffeehouse[http://www.commoncupcoffeehouse.com/], downtown Morris, provides a great place for visiting. University of Minnesota, Morris students serve on the board that distributes earnings to local, national, and international charities.

The Regional Fitness Center is a shared campus/community facility. It’s a great place to swim, work out, walk, play racquetball, volleyball, or basketball, join in on an aerobics class, or rent outdoor equipment like canoes and kayaks.
