Welcome to the home page
of the Studio Art discipline at the University of Minnesota, Morris.
With six faculty and approximatley 75 studio art majors. We are
proud of the depth and excellance of our program and course offerings,
which range from basic drawing classes to digital imaging and media
study courses.
Additionally, the discipline
routinly offers courses and special topics in digital imaging, tilemaking,
public art and book making. Students also have opportunities to
participate in study abroad programs, faculty research, service
learning, and exhibitions opportunities with in the HFA Gallery
and existing public art space on campus.

| Work by six graduating studio art majors will be on view during the 2009 Senior Art Exhibition in the Humanities Fine Arts Gallery at the University of Minnesota, Morris. An opening reception will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 23. The show runs April 23 – May 16. Pieces exhibited represent the culmination of four years of study in the studio art department and cover a broad range of media from painting, photography and printmaking to sculpture, bookmaking and mixed media. Graduating artists include: Evan Gragg (Chanhassen), Erica Jacobson (Waverly), Amber Janey (Little Falls), Sarah McDermott (Hancock), Mitch McGuire (Annandale) and Leiah Stevermer (Marshall).Images can be viewed at the following link:

Twenty-nine students from the Basic Studio 3D Design course at the University of Minnesota, Morris have created outfits made of recycled, found and repurposed materials that was exhibited in a runway show. Recycled material were confiscated from the campus's recycling center. A public show of the creations was held during Fashion Trashion: Where Style Meets Sustainability at 7 p.m. Friday, April 17, in the Humanities Fine Arts Gallery. Jess Larson, along with studio art faculty and Gallery curator Michael Eble, coordinated the event. Allison Wegner, will co-hosted the show, which was “trash-chic”! Work by both art and non-art majors will be on view during the 2009 Juried Student Art Exhibition in the Humanities Fine Arts Gallery at the University of Minnesota, Morris. The show ran from March 26-April 16.In addition to a rich variety of two-dimensional works, such as drawings, paintings, photos and prints, the exhibition will also include exquisite mixed-media works, book arts, sculpture and ceramic pieces. This year’s juror was Dr. Bill Hoar, professor of art, director of Northern Galleries at Northern State University in Aberdeen, S. D.

The Humanities Fine Arts Gallery of the University of Minnesota, Morris (UMM) presented an exhibition of work of studio art alumni from Saturday, October 4 until Wednesday, November 26, 2008, to celebrate and honor those who have continued creative work in the visual arts. The exhibit was sponsored by the Division of the Humanities, the Studio Art discipline, and the UMM Alumni Association.
