Area of Concentration in Dance

Dance students at UMM may pursue a major or minor in Dance by creating an individual Area of Concentration or Area of Emphasis (page 59, UMM catalog) in Dance. A course of study appropriate to a variety of career goals can be established in consultation with Dance Faculty.

A sample course of study for an Area of Concentration is given here as a reference point.  Para-programmatic requirements (such as participation in performances) may be included, depending on the focus of study. A student wishing to focus on physical training for dancers, the history of dance, the cultural uses of dance or teaching dance to children should choose appropriate courses in the UMM curriculum to create there own individual focus.
