The first ever Teacher Education Alumni Conference took place on Friday, September 28, 2007 from 11am to 5pm. The schedule included registration and a buffet lunch followed by a keynote speaker. Attendees then chose two of four break-out session options. The conference ended with conversation and cookies.

2007 Minnesota Teacher of the Year
Mike is a graduate of Harvard University (1980-84) earning an AB in Economics. He attended Stockholm University, (1984-85) as a Graduate Scholar in Social Studies. In 2003 Mike earned a MA in Education from the University of Minnesota. During the past 25 years, Mike has worked with global languages in the public and private sectors including non-profits.
Mike has worked with Intermediate District 287 as a consultant and teacher for more than 15 years. He currently teaches in a District 287 Japanese program located at the Robbinsdale Armstrong High School.
"Mike has been an inspiration to many of us at District 287," said Sandra Lewandowski, Superintendent. "We have students who are in Mike's unique classroom that often take a second and third year of Japanese because he is the teacher."
