TEACHING AND ADVISING

Teaching Experience and Courses Taught

Instructor, University of Minnesota-Morris, Morris, Minnesota, 2000-present. Courses taught include Introduction to Creative Writing (multi-genre), College Writing (first-year composition), and Fundamentals of Writing (remedial writing). All courses are taught in conjunction with a service learning project in which students plan activities for residents of a long-term care facility who suffer from Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementia and write a series of journals and essays about the experience. Creative writing students write found poetry from the residents' words. More than 150 students have participated in this project, and more than 300 poems have been collected.
