Faculty Enrichment Program 1991 to 2008 and Instructional Technology Mentorship Program (2000-2004)

The Faculty Enrichment Project fosters the professional development of tenure-line faculty by providing them with a senior mentor and by providing a stipend for professional development purposes. For example, the stipend could be used for the purchase of professional books, journals, software, teaching aids, or attendance at professional meetings, such as the conferences of the Collaboration for the Advancement of College Teaching and Learning, held in the Twin Cities twice a year. Faculty mentors also receive a stipend. The UMM Faculty Enrichment Project is aimed at assisting probationary tenure-track faculty in becoming fully integrated into UMM's teaching mission. Instructional Technology Mentorship Program (2000-2004)

This program is a component of the Bush Foundation funded project, Enhancing Student Learning through Innovative Teaching and Technology Strategies.

The Instructional Technology Mentoring Program operates as something of a "reverse" mentorship in which a senior faculty member seeks mentorship in computer-based instructional technology skills by a non-tenured faculty member. The junior faculty member will assist the more experienced colleague with identifying and designing computer-based teaching methods appropriate to the professor's instructional goals. These might involve assistance with web pages, discussion boards, web-based learning projects, etc. At the same time, the senior faculty member will work with the non-tenured colleague on issues such as effective teaching practices, progress toward promotion and tenure, and becoming integrated into UMM's teaching, research and service mission. Each participant receives $ 500 stipend for professional development purposes. Stipend can be used for the purchase of software, hardware, print materials, teaching
