Fall faculty Workshop 1999

This year's workshop was designed to aid faculty in the transition from quarters to semesters, which is taking place this fall. The 1999 Fall Faculty Workshop was held on August 19 at Radisson Arrowwood Resort in Alexandria, Minnesota, and approximately 50 UMM faculty attended.

The speakers were Janet Jones, Professor Emeritus of Middlesex Community College and former co-coordinator of the Activating Learning in the Classroom (ALC) program, and Donna Duffy, Professor of Psychology and co-coordinator of the ALC program at Middlesex Community College. They have co-authored several books together, including Teaching Within the Rhythms of the Semester, Beating the Doldrums, and Stalking the Superior Syllabus.

There was also a UMM faculty panel, composed of Carol Fung-Kee-Fung from Chemistry, and Janet Schrunk Ericksen from English. Both have recently taught under the semester system, and Carol has gone through the transition from quarters to semesters before.
