July in Paris Basic Information

Fren 1021 July in Paris I: French Language and Culture in Paris (IP, 4.0 cr)

Beginning course for UMM July in Paris program. Four weeks of intensive beginning French language and culture at the Sorbonne, Paris IV; guided visits to cultural and historical sites. No previous experience of French required.
OR
Fren 1023 July in Paris II: French Language and Culture in Paris (FL, 4.0 cr)
Fren 1002 equivalent for the July in Paris Program. Four weeks of intensive beginning French language and culture at the Sorbonne, Paris IV; guided visits to cultural and historical sites. OR
Fren 3060 French Language and Culture in Paris II (IP, 4.0 cr; prereq 1002 or equiv)
Intermediate and advanced coursework for UMM July in Paris program. Four weeks of intermediate or advanced French-language study at the Sorbonne, Paris IV; guided visits to cultural and historical sites.

Program Cost | $3700 (includes tuition, fees, lodging, a month-long metro pass, program related excursions and group activities, many meals, international health insurance). Fee reduction of $150 for enrollment before December 12, 2008, or of $100 for enrollment before January 23, 2009 (see below).

Estimated Airfare | Airfare = approximately $1400 (all students will travel on the same flight).

Estimated Extra Costs | $1,200 to pay for books, meals, unplanned outings, and personal spending money.

Financial Aid |In order to be eligible for summer aid, students must enroll in a minimum of 6 credits. Students who are eligible for summer financial aid may enroll in a 2-credit directed study with Stephen Martin. Leave no stone unturned: explore scholarships as well as other types of aid.

Conditions of Enrollment and Participation | The $250 deposit that you submit with your application is non-refundable.

Regardless of when you turn in your application, you may be eligible to apply for UMM scholarship worth up to $750. For scholarship applications, contact the Center for International Programs (cip@morris.umn.edu).

Submit a completed application to:

Apply for one of the many scholarships available through the Center for Int'l Programs.
If you receive financial aid, contact the financial aid office right away to arrange for aid over the summer
Register for the appropriate course (based on whether you have had at least one year of French) as a Summer session course
Arrange for passports and other documents (the passport is not included in the program fee). Here is more information on obtaining a passport. The Center for International Programs will also send passport information to travelers enrolled in the program, once the final enrollment deadline is passed.
Attend orientation sessions in the spring.
