Kate Droske ('07) returned to Concordia Language Villages for her fifth consecutive summer, where she now teaches for-credit courses in French. Kate is also a full-time French teacher at Willmar Senior High School, and will soon lead her first group of twenty high-school students on a trip to France.
Amanda Hinzmann ('07) left soon after graduation to serve as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Togo, West Africa. Along with other volunteers, she recently toured the region by bicycle to talk about the importance of education for young girls and to raise money for the Karren R. Waid Fund, which pays for a girl's education through university. Together, UMM French students donated $75, enough money to pay for three years of schooling. Amanda and fellow volunteers raised more than $5,000 for the fund.
Becky Oman ('07) uses her French every day in a MN car insurance company with ties to Quebec, and says she loves her job, which offers a solid salary, full benefits, bonuses opportunities for advancement and growth.
Anna Harrington ('05) double majored in French and Music. After spending two years in France, Anna returned to the States to begin graduate study in French literature at Boston College, living with two pals she met in France. Anna says she loves her studies!
Chandra Hutchens ('05) double majored in French and Biology. After graduation, she accepted a positioon at the Mayo Clinic as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the Cytogenetics department.
Sarah Neenan ('04) returned to the U.S. after teaching for a year in France and accepted a job as a French translator / interpreter for a Minnesota firm.
Gina Westlund ('04) completed an M.A. in History at Mankato State while working as a French translator/interpreter for Nova-Tech (Willmar,MN). She got married in the summer of '06 and scored a great job in Human Resources with a MN firm with connections to France.
