Entre Nous
un groupe pour les francophiles de Morris

French is, for many students, an integral part of campus life. Entre Nous brings activities and performances to campus and partners with French clubs at neighboring campuses to enjoy events. Entre Nous members also frequently plan trips to the Twin Cities for special events. Browse our scrapbook for details about what we've been up to, and join us for what's to come.

UMMENTRENOUS@lists.umn.edu
is a listserv for French enthusiasts. As a subscriber, you will receive reminders about conversation table and other upcoming events, as well as messages related to work and study abroad opportunities.

Elections are held annually in late April for the following year. Do you think you would like to run for office?

French enthusiasts celebrate their victory in the grueling Tour de Morris trike race, part of UMM's celebration of National French Week. Students also tabled in the student center, blasting French music and distributing stickers reading J'aime UMM and Je suis adorable. Other events included a lecture, Bénin: Splendeurs et Misères, by Aboubakary Moumouni, a current fellow at the Humphrey Institute.

Upcoming Special Events

UMM Tournées Festival of French Films | For the second consecutive year, Entre Nous has received the support and reconition of the French-American Cultural Exchange to hold a French Film festival at UMM. Visit this year's festival web site for more details.

Student production of Ionesco's La Cantatrice chauve | Students are hard at work on a production of this fabulously funny French play. Performance is Feb 28 at 7:00 p.m. in the Black Box.

22nd Annual Edith R. Farrell Poetry Reading Contest | We will gather on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 for our most important tradition. Students compete at their level of proficiency for a variety of prizes, carefully preparing a French or Francophone poem for recitation. Last year, some sixty students gathered for an evening of food, live original music (in French), and poetry. This event is free and open to the public--please join us!

Regular Events

Study Day | We Francophiles celebrate the end of each semester with a party! In the fall, we get together for raclette, and in the spring, it's crêpes savory and sweet.

Conversation Table | Entre Nous hosts French conversation several times a month at the Common Cup, the local coffee house. Students of all levels will find people to chat with in French.
