Proterozoic tectonic evolution of the Collegiate Peaks, Colorado
In the summer of 2007, undergraduate geology students Jacob Leader and Erik Baker spent two weeks with UMM geology faculty member Jamey Jones
doing field research in the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness or west-central Colorado. Erik's research is focused on the tectonic implications of strongly deformed ca. 1.70 billion year old granites exposed along Clear Creek. Jacob's research is focused on the nature and significance of deformation in granites that were formed approximately 1.4 billion years ago. Both students were funded by the University of Minnesota Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP).
