Graduate school info
Graduates of UMM's Geology Discipline are well prepared to continue their
education and training in graduate school at both the Master's (M.S.) and Doctorate (Ph.D.) level,
and many are encouraged to do so. Master's programs typically take 2-3 years to complete, and
doctoral programs can range from 3 to 6 years or more depending on the course of study and
institution. Qualified geology graduate students should expect to be fully funded during their
graduate studies, and funding sources commonly include teaching assistantships (T.A.), research
assistantships (R.A.), grants, fellowships, tuition waivers, etc.
