An 1884 diary of Oscar Aanerud's father, a story called The Country
Boy, and a family history comprise this collection. The diary is
translated from Norwegian, and is the story of his father's departure from
Oslo, Norway to his arrival in Donnelly, MN. The story depicts a
childhood growing up on a farm in west central Minnesota at the beginning
of the 20th century. The family history is a historical account of the

Coulie Affair, the Joseph R. Brown family (one of the first settlers in
Traverse County), reminiscences of a Traverse County Sheriff from the 1930's,
historical sketches of the Sioux Indians, the Sisseton Reservation, early
trading use of Lake Traverse, the Long-Keating Expedition (to find the
source of the Minnesota River), and a history of the Minnesota Territory.

as well as the Mid-Continent Area Power Pool. The cost of the powerline
project, causes and issues concerning opposition to the line, and Anderson's
comments on the role of electricity and the energy situation in Minnesota

state representative from 1952-1978. He chaired the Legislative Building

numerous legislative publications relating to a variety of issues, including
significant amounts of material on higher education and the state parks
system. The collection also contains constituent correspondence and

served as County Commissioner from 1941-1965. He discusses his duties
as commissioner, the WPA workers and some of the work they did in Chippewa

of the time. He also discusses the Olof Swensson family (Olof Swensson
Farm Museum of the Chippewa County Historical Society) in detail, including
the preachings of Mr. Swensson, their house, and the work done by the women

MN), this collection contains Anderson's papers from his two legislative
sessions. Most of the collection is correspondence from people concerned
about legislative bills coming before the House of Representatives.
Topics include the contested election by A.F. Rieber, federal rent control,
a 50-foot truck length bill, N.S.F. checks, and basic aid increases for
schools. More general topics deal with taxes, school reorganization,
drunk driving, swine diseases, legislation on the mentally retarded, censorship
of literature, optometry advertising, and finding a replacement for the
Minnesota Board of Regents. This collection is arranged chronologically.
