Coursework
Students who major in Liberal Arts for the Human Services select courses from a broad range of disciplines including
anthropology, sociology, psychology, management, economics, history, political science, speech communication, and
wellness/sports science.
In addition, many courses in this major participate in UMM's Service
Learning program. As part of their coursework, students may conduct life history interviews with farmers who
participate
in the Pride of the Prairie local foods program, assist with
domestic violence/sexual assault prevention and education efforts through Someplace Safe, or mentor girls in the juvenile
justice system who lives at Heartland Girls' Ranch. Faculty at UMM develop new projects like these each semester.
