Thursday, October 29thThis week the big question is about rules, and specifically what their status is with respect to what we should and should not, or when it is "permissible" to disobey. This can include laws, but not exclusively - the question applies more broadly to things like company policy, restrictions on what you're allowed to do as a student at a university, and any other sort of rule that we are subject to in different circumstances. The reading isn't anything particularly philosophical - it's actually just a (very) short couple of anecdotes from a highschool teacher I stumbled upon, but I think it's just about perfect as an introduction to the general topic. Of course, this being philosophy club, I expect we'll be more philosophical in our evaluation of the question, and hopefully we'll have a good discussion about good old fashioned rule breaking!
