ArtS 3004: Media Studies: Mural Project and Public Art, SLR
Instructor: Michael Eble
Prereq: For majors or minors or with instructor consent GER: ArtP
Mission: Students will create two murals: one celebrating UMM's Local Foods initiative, to be housed in the Food Service Building on campus and unveiled at this year's Local Foods Meal and Expo, and one that celebrates our community's history and assets, to be housed at the Salvation Army.

ARTS 2401 AND 3400, BEGINNING AND ADVANCED SCULPTURE, SLR
Instructor: Therese Buchmiller
Mission In collaboration with a broad range of community members and agencies, students will create a public art piece and plan an event to promote more involvement in the Prairie Renaissance Cultural Alliance.

Eng 1001: Fundamentals of Writing, SLR
Instructor: Argie Manolis
Prereq: No prerequisites; designed for students with a 15 or below on ACT
Mission:
Students will plan and implement weekly activities for elders living in a long-tem care facility and write a series of reflective and analytic essays about the experience.
Eng 1011, Section 6, College Writing, SLR
Instructor: Argie Manolis
Prereq: No prerequisites; required for students with a 27 or below on ACT
Mission: Students will plan and implement weekly activities for elders living in a long-tem care facility and write a series of reflective and research-based essays about the experience.
Eng 2993: Directed Study: Found Poetry and Service Learning, SLR
Instructor: Argie Manolis
Prereq: Instructor consent
Mission: Students will facilitate groups of first-year students, assisting in planning and implementing weekly activities for elders at a long-term care facility. They will write found poems from the elders' words and create books of poetry and reflections for each elder and family.
MUS 3204: Advanced Individual Performance Study: Voice
Instructor: Hope Koehler
Mission: Students will conduct a choral group for area senior citizens and teach private voice lessons to high school students. The high school students and elders will sing together in a performance at the end of the semester.
Soc 3141: Sociology of Deviance, SLO
Instructor:Jennifer Rothchild
Prereq: 4 credits in Soc or instructor consent GER:E/CR
Mission: Students may choose (in lieu of a more traditional series of papers) to assist with event planning and outreach materials for Someplace Safe, an agency that educates about and advocate for victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault, or to work on outreach/information gathering for the Violence Prevention Program on campus.
Soc 3121: Sociology of Gender, SLR
Instructor: Jennifer Rothchild
Prereq: Soc 1101 or Anth 1111 or instructor consent GER:HDiv
Mission: Students may choose to investigate and respond to a local social issue related to gender in collaboration with community members not in the class.
