Eng 1131: Introduction to Literature, SLR
Instructor: Brook Miller
Partners: Fifth grade teachers at Morris Area Elementary School
Project: UMM students will assist fifth grade students with writing skills and work with them on reading and writing poetry. UMM and elementary students will plan a final project and reading. UMM students will write a series of assignments about the ways in which the experience of teaching elementary school students impacted their understanding of literary analysis.
Eng 1001: Fundamentals of Writing, SLR

Project: Students will plan weekly therapeutic and recreational activities for small groups of elders and write a series of essays about their experiences and related topics.
English 2121: Introduction to Creative Writing, SLR
Instructor: Argie Manolis
Partner: West Wind Village
Project:Students will plan weekly therapeutic and recreational activities for small groups of elders and write “found poems” from the elders’ words. These poems will be collected into books that will be shared with the elders and their families.
IS 3213H. Honors: The Theory and Practice of Community Based Learning, SLR
Instructor: Argie Manolis and Marynel Ryan
Partners: Native Harvest, Sisseton-Wahpeton Indian Reservation, Stevens Community Medical Center, Morris Area School District
Project: Each student in this small honors course will complete a community based research project related to the broad topic of diversity within our community.
Phil 2101: Introduction to Symbolic Logic, SLR
Instructor: Lory Lemke
Partners: Morris Area Elementary School
Project: UMM students will teach MAES students the basics of logic by creating and implementing a series of lessons plans that meet Minnesota state standards.
Psy 3403: Developmental Psychology: Adulthood, Aging and Death, SLR
Instructor: Jacqueline Greenwood
Partner: Morris Senior Center
Project: UMM students will meet with area senior citizens in one-on-one sessions and participate in on-campus group discussions and lectures with the elders. Students will also assist with the Morris Senior Center Bazaar in December.
Soc 3141: Sociology of Deviance, SLO
Instructor: Jennifer Rothchild
Partners: UMM Violence Prevention Program
Project: Students will work individually on different aspects of a violence prevention training program, including researching the program and writing the curriculum.
Soc 3121: Sociology of Gender, SLR
Instructor: Jennifer Rothchild
Partners: Variety of partners
Project: Students will work in small groups on a series of community based research projects related to the topic of gender.
Speech 3321: Principles of Television Broadcasting, SLR

Partners: Morris Kiwanis
Project: Students will work with the organization to create a video highlighting the groups work in the area.
