Art Studio 2500: Advanced Photography, SLR

Land Stewardship Project, Pride of the Prairie, Prairie Renaissance Cultural Alliance
Project: Students will photograph local farmers on their farms. Photos will be available to farmers for use in promotional pieces and will be made into products available for sale through the PRCA.

Economics 3501: Introduction to Econometrics, SLR

Benson Economic Development, Benson High School
Project: Students will design a survey to assess the economic health of the Benson community. Benson High School students will administer the survey and work with college students on the analysis of the survey data.

English 2121: Introduction to Creative Writing, SLR

Project:
Students plan and implement weekly activities for residents of area long-term care and supported housing facilities and write “found poems” from their stories.

English 2993: Directed Study in Creative Writing for Elementary Schools, SLR

Partners: MAES 5th grade teachers
Project: Three elementary education students learns about creative writing pedagogy and write and implement lesson plans.

History 2993: Directed Study in History: History Day, SLR

Project: College students mentor K-12 students in regional school districts in researching and creating History Day projects to be entered into regional and statewide History Day competitions.

Music 3204 Advanced Individual Performance Study: Voice, SLR

Project: UMM students will give voice lessons to MAHS students, who will perform their individual pieces at the end of the semester.

Sociology 1101: Introduction to Sociology, SLO

Partners: Pride of the Prairie, Prairie Renaissance Cultural Alliance, Morris Area School District Nutrition Committee, Morris Area Child Care Center, West Wind Village , Tutoring, Reading, and Enabling Children program, Morris Senior Center, Morris Meals on Wheels, Someplace Safe.
Projects: Students may choose from one of the following projects: writing and implementing intergenerational lesson plans for children and elders through MACCC and West Wind Village; tutoring K-6 students through the TREC program; conducting life history interviews with farmers in conjunction with Pride of the Prairie; assisting with domestic violence/sexual assault prevention and education efforts through Someplace Safe; delivering Meals on Wheels and/or working in the Senior Center kitchen and conducting needs and interviewing elders to determine existing needs; assisting the Morris Area School District's Nutrition Committee with research and educational programming.

Sociology 4991: Independent Project Seminar, SLO

Partners: Institutional buyers of food; report will be widely distributed (provided IRB approves project)
Project: One student will conduct a study to determine impediments institutions face in purchasing locally produced food.

Speech Communications 3311: Social Uses of the Media, SLR

Project: Students will assist with public relations efforts for the COPC grant.

Theater Arts 2111: Creative Dramatics for Children, SLR
Faculty: Ray Schultz
Community Partner: Chokio-Alberta Elementary School
Project: Students plan and implement lesson plans for area classrooms that involve creative dramatic techniques.
