ArtS 2302: Beginning Painting II, SLR

Project: Students will create individual paintings that celebrates our community's history and assets to be housed at the Salvation Army.
Economics 3501: Introduction to Econometrics, SLO

Education 1020: English in the American University, SLR

Projects: Students will be reading about a variety of American social issues and assisting with several short-term service projects, including the Local Foods Expo and Meal on campus and making and serving a meal at the Dorothy Day House of Hospitality in the Fargo-Moorhead area.

English 1002: Fundamentals of Writing II, SLR

Project: Students will plan and implement weekly activities for elders living in a long-tem care facility and write a series of reflective and analytic essays about the experience.
English 2121: Introduction to Creative Writing, SLR

Project: Students plan and implement weekly activities for residents of area long-term care and supported housing facilities and write “found poems” from their stories.

Interdisciplinary Studies 2993: Art and Disability

Partner: Divine House and PRCA
Project: Two UMM students will work with a professor to plan and implement a series of three workshops for people with developmental disabilities. The residents' work will be displayed at the Prairie Renaissance Cultural Alliance.

Interdisciplinary Studies 2993: Public Relations

Partner: American Cancer Society of Stevens County
Project: One UMM student will work with the Relay for Life organizing committee to assist with the coordination of public relations for the event and to plan an educational event on campus that relates to cancer prevention and research.

Music 3204: Advanced Individual Performance: Voice, SLO

Partner: Morris Area High School
Project: UMM music students will give vocal training to students at Morris Area High School.

Sociology 1101: Introduction to Sociology, SLO

Partners: Morris Area Child Care Center; West Wind Village; Tutoring, Reading, and Enabling Children program, Someplace Safe; Habitat for Humanity; Stevens Community Humane Society
Projects: Students may choose from one of the following projects: writing and implementing intergenerational lesson plans for children and elders through MACCC and West Wind Village; tutoring K-6 students through the TREC program; assisting with domestic violence/sexual assault prevention and education efforts through Someplace Safe; creating educational and/or outreach materials for Habitat for Humanity and Stevens Community Humane Society.
