The American Indian Studies major and minor is designed to enhance a studentâ€™s awareness and their overall knowledge about sovereignty and the diversity of Indigenous cultures throughout all of Native North America. Students are required to engage and learn American Indian history, policies, cultures, literature, language, arts, sciences, and other creative endeavors within a globalized context. American Indian Studies promotes critical thinking, writing, and communication skills that are also rooted in Indigenous knowledge systems and community involvement. The curriculum emphasizes the role of the student as an active learner and participant within a growing and vibrant Intertribal campus community.
