One of the primary virtues of the Political Science major at Morris is breadth. The foundation of the major are two survey courses, as well as courses in research methods and statistics. Students then take elective courses in each of the subfields (American Politics, International and Comparative Politics, Political Theory). Directed study and field studies credits may also apply towards the requirements for the major. The curriculum is completed with a senior capstone seminar focused on independent research.
The Political Science Minor may be accomplished by successfully completing 16 credits from the Political Science course offerings.
Double majors in Political Science are common, and a desirable option for many students. Some recent double major graduates at Morris have paired Political Science with History; Environmental Studies; Communication, Media, and Rhetoric; and Chemistry.
