Summer Term Housing

Summer 2015 Housing Information


Students living on campus during summer 2015 will be placed in Spooner hall.


Students who are attending May Session and Summer Session I and II at UMM will be given first priority for residence hall space. All other students may obtain housing provided there are spaces available.


Students will be housed in Spooner Hall during the summer of 2015. The television lounge and Veranda are both air conditioned. The laundry area/kitchen in the basement will also be air conditioned at the beginning of the summer. Students will be assigned to a room space when they check into the hall. Students that have a roommate preference should note that on the summer housing application.

Construction Projects

There are currently no construction projects scheduled for Spooner Hall during summer of 2015. However, standard cleaning and maintenance in Spooner Hall and construction work in nearby buildings may result in brief interruption in utilities and/or noise for residents.

Period of Contract

Summer housing will be available to students from Sunday, May 10th – Saturday, August 22nd. Students living on campus will be allowed to stay in their current room until Saturday, May 16th. Students will need to move into their Spooner room assignment on Saturday, May 16th. Students must move into their fall 2015 assignments on the weekend of August 7th – 9th. In some cases the fall room may not be available due to a summer group staying on campus. In those instances, the Office of Residential Life will work with the individual student to determine a move date. If a summer school student is living off-campus during fall of 2015, they must check out of summer housing no later than 4:30pm on August 9th.

Summer occupancy prior to May 10th is not permitted. No one is permitted to move into the hall without having first signed a contract. Contracts will be available at the Office of Residential Life beginning in April.


The cost will be $9 per night. Charge for each lost key is $60. Charges for additional cleaning will be $30 per hour. Checkout must be arranged with staff at least 24 hours in advance. Failure to arrange a checkout time with staff, or failure to check out at a scheduled time, will result in a $60 improper checkout fee.

Fees are due at the Business Office at the end of the month. Bills are sent out the first of the month.

Single Room Requests

Due to the high demand for housing in the summer, the Office of Residential Life is not able to guarantee a single room to any student unless the student is registered through the office of disabilities services and requires a single room accommodation.

Applications will be available at the Office of Residential Life beginning in April.
