A resident of Aurora, Illinois, Beal is a member of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Chicago District, and serves as the assistant chief of the regulatory branch. She has been with USACE for 27 years, working with the wetlands permit program. She also has a business designing resumes and providing interview preparation for job-hunters. Beal refinishes furniture in her spare time. |

Debra Carlson ’72, English, biology
Carlson earned a master of science in public policy from the University of Minnesota Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs. She taught as an adjunct faculty member at St. Cloud State University and at UMM. Carlson has spent a 26-year career working in support of nontraditional students as director of St. Cloud State University’s Lindgren Child Care Center. She has been a board member and is past-president of her national professional association. She makes her home in Sherburne County near Becker with husband Rick Wittwer. |

Former Cougar football player and intramural athlete, Frischmon is a principal with Furst Group, an executive search firm exclusively focused on the health care industry. He has also worked as a securities broker and national accounts manager. He makes his home in Waconia with wife Deb Hennen Frischmon ’89 and sons Matthew and Joshua. |

Dennis Gimmestad '73, speech and theatre
Gimmestad
is employed with the State Historic Preservation Office of the Minnesota Historical Society in St. Paul. In 2004-05, he served on the steering committee for UMM's historic preservation plan funded by the Getty Foundation. Gimmestad makes his home in St. Louis Park.

Howard Hecht '92, mathematics and physics
Hecht is a senior project manager for technology at Thomson West in Eagan where he has been employed for over 13 years. An avid trombonist during his UMM career, Hecht continues honing his skills, playing with various big bands around the Twin Cities area. Hecht and wife Laura reside in Rosemount with their three active children, all under the age of seven.

Kathi Hedstrom ’82, health education
A resident of Elk River, Hedstrom has worked in the aviation industry as an account manager for Northwestern Travel Management and, currently, at Sun Country Airlines as director of corporate sales. She enjoys traveling (of course!), running, and photography. |

Jim Mahoney ’85, business, economics
Mahoney is a financial consultant for Bank of the West in his hometown of Morris. He and wife Beth ’88 have two children, Patrick, a 2007 UMM graduate, and Megan, a second-year student at Bemidji State University. |

Jessica Phillips ’97, speech communication
A buyer in the Entertainment Division for Target Corporation, Phillips is responsible for managing the company’s Latin music, private label music, and entertainment storage businesses. She served on the University of Minnesota’s Board of Regents from 1995 to 2001, and serves on the University of Minnesota Alumni Association’s national board. She earned a master of business administration from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Business. Phillips volunteers at La Escuelita and Whittier International Elementary School in Minneapolis. |

Schuster
is a financial associate with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans in Hopkins. He is continuing his education, working towards a certified financial planner designation. During his UMM career, Tony played baseball and football. He makes his home in Mound.

Juli Wagner ’92, English
Wagner has been employed by the Grain Elevator and Processing Society as a meeting planner and exposition manager since 1993. She is active in the Minnesota Chapter of Meeting Professionals International, the PTA at her daughter's elementary school, and enjoys gardening. Wagner makes her home in Eagan with daughter Madison (10). |

Chris Wenner ’99, business, economics
Wenner attended UMM after serving four years in the U.S. Army. He is currently employed by the FDIC in Fargo, North Dakota, but is considering a move to San Antonio, Texas soon. He shares that the Alumni Board has given him a fresh perspective of UMM. “I feel we are taking the right steps in connecting with young alumni and making Morris an attractive place for students to call home for four years.”

Brian Ulrich ’98, management
Ulrich married in 1999 and lives in the Hopkins area. He is a senior analyst/capital funding manager at United Health Care. When he isn’t “working diligently to improve the experiences for UMM alumni as part of the UMMAA Board of Directors,” he spends time with his two nieces, nephew, and pets. He enjoys travel and actively volunteers with organizations such as the Hopkins Center for the Arts and the Hyland Hills Ski and Snowboard area as a member of the ski patrol. |
