
List of UMM football coaching candidates narrowed to four
For Immediate Release: February 1, 2007 Morris, MN – University of Minnesota-Morris Athletic Director Mark Fohl has announced that four candidates have been selected to interview for the position as head football coach at UMM.
The list of candidates include: Kevin Bullis, currently the defensive coordinator at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, Paul Miller, former head coach at Hamline University, Tim Steinbach, defensive coordinator at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, Minnesota and Todd Hickman, offensive coordinator at the University of Minnesota-Morris.
Candidates will be available in open sessions during their interviews in the Prairie Lounge of the Student Center beginning at 2:30 P.M. each day.
The interview schedule will begin on Friday, Feb. 2, for Kevin Bullis Monday, Feb. 5, for Paul Miller Tue. Feb. 6, for Tim Steinbach and Monday February 12th for Todd Hickman.
Bullis has been the defensive coordinator at UW-River Falls since 1995. From 1993-95 he was the defensive coordinator at Gustavus Adolphus College. He graduated from UMM in 1989 a received his master’s degree in history from UWRF in 1992.
Miller was the head football coach at Hamline U. in 2005 & 2006 and the head football coach at St. Olaf from 1997-2001. He also has been the head football Coach at Apple Valley H.S., Burnsville H.S., South St. Paul H.S., Jordan H.S., Dover-Eyota H.S. and Beardsley H.S. He graduated from UMM in 1973 and received his master’s degree in P.E. from Minn. State - Mankato in 1985.
Steinbach has been the defensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator at Southwest Minnesota State U. since 2004. From 2000-2004 he was the defensive line coach at South Dakota State U. He also had been the offensive coordinator, offensive line coach and defensive line coach at UMM during two previous stays at UMM in 1994-95 and 1998-2000. He graduated from St. John's U. in 1993 and received his master’s degree in sport pedagogy/athletic administration from SDSU in 1998.
Hickman has been both the offensive and defensive Coordinator at different times since 1998 at UMM. He was the head football coach at Hibbing Community College from 1994-96. He also served as an assistant football coach at UMM in 1989-90 and 1992-93. In 1991-92 he coached the offensive line and tight ends at the University of Nebraska-Kearney. He graduated from St. Cloud St. in 1991 and received his master’s degree in education from Nebraska-Kearney in 1993.
