Morris, MN—The University of Minnesota-Morris men’s basketball team was led by the strong scoring of Eric Dalbey (So. Mora, MN) and Will Jenson (Sr. Eau Claire, WI) en route to a 86-72 victory over Crown College on Friday night.

Dalbey’s 32 points was two shy of his career-high total, while Jenson’s 25 points was one away from his personal best.

Phil Allen (Jr. Clarissa, MN) added 16 points of his own, while Daniel Fragodt (Fr. Benson, MN) pulled down eight rebounds.

Both teams traded leads early in the first half, but a layup from Jenson made the score 25-25 with 5:15 remaining the seemed to spark the Cougars. Ten consecutive points from Dalbey and then a free-throw from Daron Zych (Sr. Graceville, MN) gave the Cougars a 36-30 lead with 2:08 left on the clock. A layup from Jenson put the score at 44-35 going into the break.

Dalbey (23 points), Jenson (10 points) and Allen (8 points) led the first-half scoring, while Daniel Fragodt had four rebounds.

During the second half, Minnesota-Morris never relinquished their lead. A three-point shot from Jenson put them up by 12 (57-45) early in the half, and a layup from Jordan Noonan (So. Richfield, MN) extended the lead to 65-50.

Another Jenson three-pointer gave the Cougars their biggest margin of the half, 81-63, while two free-throws from Jenson closed the scoring at 86-72.

Jenson led the second half scoring with 15 points, while Dalbey had seven rebounds and Joey Fragodt (So. Benson, MN) picked up two of his own.

UMM outscored Crown College 34-22 in the paint, shooting at a 48.3% (28-48) clip from the floor.

The Cougars, improved to 9-7 overall and 5-1 in the UMAC.
