2006 UMAC football champion Cougars begin fall practice

(Pictured right - Head Coach Todd Hickman watches Saturday's first practice) For Immediate Release: August 20, 2007 Morris, MN – First year head coach Todd Hickman welcomed 62 athletes as the University of Minnesota, Morris football team held its first practice of the 2007 season at Big Cat Stadium, Saturday, August 18th. The defending Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) football champions went through several conditioning drills Saturday under cloudy and cool conditions. UMM finished with a 7-3 overall record and were 7-0 in league play last year to claim their first ever UMAC Championship. The Cougars return 40 players, including 15 starters for the 2007 season. Not to mention one of the largest recruiting classes in recent years. The Cougars open the 2007 season on September 8th when they take on Carleton College at 1:00 in Northfield, MN.
