
UMAC all-conference football teams announced
For Immediate Release: November 1, 2007 St. Paul, MN – The 2007 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) has announced the 2007 football all-conference teams.
The University of Minnesota, Morris landed at total of 15 athletes on the three teams with four first team honorees, three second team members and seven who earned honorable mention honors.
Matt Fragodt (Jr. WR Becker, Minn.), Taylor Johnson (So. RB Lakeville, Minn.), Joe Pirillo (Sr. OL Manteca, Calif.) and Andrew Shay (Jr. LB Minneapolis, Minn.) were named first team all-conference.
Matt Fragodt was named first team all-conference for the third straight year while Joe Pirillo and Andrew Shay earned first team honors for the second straight season. Taylor Johnson, who became the first Cougar running back in three years to surpass the 1,000 yard rushing mark, was a second team pick last year as a freshman.
Named second team all-conference for the Cougars were Chris Szorc (Sr. OL W. Chicago, Ill.), Brady Rose (So. TE Morgan, Minn.) Rick Arterberry (Sr. K Alex, OK) and Sean Gremmels (Sr. LB Glenwood Minn.).
Eight Cougars were selected honorable mention this year. Brandon Lorenz (Jr. OL White Bear Lake, Minn.), Billy Newman (Fr. OL Brooklyn Center, Minn.) and Mike Terrell (Sr. FB Tracy, Calif.) Ryan Stoick (Sr. WR Morris, MN) Jeff Karschnik (Sr. QB Windom, Minn.) Matt Throngard (So. RB Grantsburg, Wis.) Blair Elliott (Jr. LB Forest Lake, Minn.). Matt Fragodt was named honorable mention as a kick-returner.
