Phil Allen earns UMAC men's basketball POW award

University of Minnesota, Morris Junior Phil Allen has been named this week's Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC)men's basketball player of the week. Phil Allen led Minnesota-Morris to two big conference wins over the weekend, starting with a 27-point effort against Bethany Lutheran on Friday. Allen was 10-of-15 from the field and 7-of-8 from the free throw line in the Cougars’ 62-51 win. He also added eight rebounds in 27 minutes of play. Against Martin Luther on Saturday, Allen was 11-of-16 from the field for 29 points and added five rebounds in 25 minutes. Allen also had six points in the Cougars loss to Valley City State earlier in the week. In the two UMAC games, Allen had 56 points on 21-of-31 (67.7 percent) shooting from the field. For the week, Allen had 62 points on 24-of-45 (53.3 percent) shooting from the field.
