For Immediate Release: January 17th, 2008 Morris, MN – The University of Minnesota, Morris Athletic Department and the NCAA are pleased to announce that Saturday, January 26th, when the Cougars host Northwestern College, children 14 and under will receive free admission to the game when accompanied by an adult.
Presented by the NCAA, the TAKG program is entering its 13th year for women's NCAA Basketball and its 10th year for men's NCAA Basketball. This is a grassroots initiative that encourages adults to take a kid to a participating institution's men or women's basketball game and provides the youth of your local community the opportunity to be part of the thrills and excitement of the in-person college basketball experience.
The University of Minnesota, Morris is hosting one of more than 700 games that will be played across the nation as part of the Take A Kid to the Game (TAKG) program.
“We are thrilled to invite area youth to our campus and have them help as we cheer on the Cougars to victory. It is our hope that adults in the community will bring their children out to experience a collegiate athletic event at UMM ” said Brian Curtis, Sports Information Director at Minnesota, Morris. “We’re expecting a crowd to take part in the intense basketball action at our women’s and men’s game!”
The Cougar women’s game will tip off at 3:00 with the men’s game to follow at approximately 5:00 at the UMM P.E. Center. Children can sign up for several free give a ways that will be held during both games for t-shirts and more.
