Cougar baseball practice underway

For Immediate Release: February 1, 2008 Morris, MN – The University of Minnesota, Morris baseball team has started practice in preparation for the 2008 season.

Head Coach Mark Fohl welcomed pitchers and catchers on January 23rd and the remainder of the team reports to camp on Tuesday, February 5th.

Minnesota, Morris finished the 2007 season 10-28 overall and 6-13 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC). The Cougars won six of their last nine games including picking up two wins in the 2007 UMAC post-season tournament.

The Cougars advanced to their first ever UMAC post-season tournament title game dropping an 8-2 decision to St. Scholastica. UMM was also 7-3 at home in 2007.

Minnesota, Morris will open the 2008 season with a non-conference double header against Macalester College on Thursday, March 6th at the Metrodome at 5:00 p.m.

They then embark on their annual spring trip to Ft. Myers, Florida on March 15-20. They will play nine games over the five day period.

Northern State University comes to town on Tuesday March 25th for the home opener.

UMAC conference play begins on Friday March 28th & 29th when the Cougars host Martin Luther College in a three game weekend series.
