UMAC baseball pre-season poll released

For Immediate Release: February 29, 2008 Morris, MN – The 2008 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) 2008 pre-season baseball coaches’ poll has been released. St. Scholastica, who has won the past 11 UMAC crowns, was once again tabbed as the team to beat.

Bethany Lutheran was picked second, Northwestern College third in the poll.

The University of Minnesota, Morris was picked sixth the coaches’ voting.

The Cougars finished 10-21 overall in 2007 and 7-11 in the UMAC and advanced to the post-season tournament last year.

UMM won six of their last nine games of the season, including a pair of wins at the post-season tournament in Duluth to advance to their first ever UMAC tournament championship game.

Minnesota, Morris will open the 2008 season with a non-conference double header against Macalester College on Thursday, March 6th at the Metrodome at 5:00 p.m.

They then embark on their annual spring trip to Ft. Myers, Florida on March 15-20. They will play nine games over the five day period.

Northern State University comes to town on Tuesday March 25th for the home opener.
