The Cougar defense scored the only two touchdown's of the night and hung on for a 13-0 win over Trinity Bible at Big Cat Stadium on Friday night.
Defensive back Corey Hemphill (Jr. Chicago, Ill.) put Minnesota, Morris on top 6-0 with a 25 yard interception return for s score. The extra point attempt was no good and with just over two minutes to play in quarter number three, UMM had the first lead of the game.
Then late in the fourth quarter, defensive lineman Nate Copeland (Sr. Richfield, Minn.)picked off a pass and ran it in for the second defensive touchdown of the game to put the Cougars on top 13-0, Matt Privratsky (So. Walker, Minn) added the extra point kick to make the final 13-0.
Freshman running back Robert Koranda (Becker, Minn) led the offense with 133 yards rushing on 27 carries.
Andrew shay (Sr. Minneapolis, Minn) recorded six tackles in the game two tackles for loss.
Minnesota, Morris now 1-0 will host Dakota State University, Saturday, September 13 at 7:00 p.m. at Big Cat Stadium.
