MLC ground game does in Cougars
The Knights of Martin Luther College finished with 365 in total offense Saturday, all on the ground and MLC went on to spoil homecoming 2008 for the University of Minnesota, Morris 35=7 in Upper Midwest athletic Conference (UMAC) football action at Big Cat Stadium.
The Cougars stayed with the Knights, but failed to take advantage of five martin Luther turn overs int he first half and trailed 20-7 and the break.
Just 45 seconds into the second half, MLC's Andrew Becker scored on a 66 yard run to put the Knights up 27-7
One of the games biggest plays came on the first play of the fourth quarter. With UMM driving and looking at making it a two possession contest, Cougar quarter back Seth Hubbard's (So. Becker, Minn)pass intended for Matt Fragodt (Sr. Becker, Minn) was picked off at the five yard line.
So instead of looking at first and goal, Martin Luther took over possession and promptly went 95 yards in just five plays in 2:25 to take a 35-7 lead and that really seemed to take the wind out of the Cougars sails.
UMM freshman running back Robert Koranda (Becker, Minn) was held to under 100 yards rushing for the first time this season ending with 65 yards on 20 carries.
Minnesota, Morris had just 216 yards in total offense for the game.
Becker finished with 185 yards on just 13 carries for MLC.
Minnesota, Morris 2-2 (1-1 UMAC) travels to Crown College next wekend, martin Luther 4-1 (1-1 UMAC) is at Northwestern.
