Lawrence University jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the second quarter and held on for a 21-13 non-conference win in Appleton, Wisconsin Saturday despite a career high 80 yards rushing from Ernest Tucker for UMM.

After the Vikings took a 14-0 lead early in the 2nd quarter, Minnesota, Morris went 54 yards in 16 plays to cut the deficit to 14-6 with 2:35 remaining in the first half. Tucker (Jr. Cleveland,
OH) scored on a one yard plunge.

After Lawrence made it it 21-6, the Cougars Garrett Mensing (Fr. Blue Earth, Minn.) ran it from one yard out to cap the scoring and make the final 21-13.

Robert Koranda (Fr. Sartell, Minn), the Cougars leading rusher was held to 38 yards on the ground and finished with 1,046 yards rushing in his first year in a Cougar uniform, the most in recent history for a first year running back.

Mitch Zimmer (Fr. Little Falls, Minn.) led the Cougar defense with 10 total tackles in the game, the tackles for loss and two sacks.

The Cougars finish the season 3-6 overall. The Cougars in the first 2 years under Coach Hickman are 7-11. The seven wins are the most wins in the first 2 years since Stan Zweifel in 1987.
