
For the second time this season, the University of Minnesota, Morris and Northland College volleyball teams played a five set match. And for the second time this season, the Cougars come away with the 3-2 win.
Back on October 3rd, UMM rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat the Lumberjills 3-2.
Saturday, the Cougars won set number one 25-22, Northland then won two straight by scores of 25-20 and 25-11 to take a 2-1 lead.
Minnesota, Morris responded with a 25-14 win in the fourth set to force a fifth and deciding set.
In the fifth set, the Cougars out hit the Jills .259 (10-3-27) to .143 (11-7-28) to pick up the 20-18 win and a big UMAC road win.
Sam Pfannenstein (So. St. Cloud, Minn.) had 45 assists in the match for UMM.
Senior Briana Czer (Sr. New Ulm, Minn.) had a double-double with 14 kills and 15 digs. Alison Pippo (Sr. Annandale, Minn) also had 14 kills.
Colleen Hermes (So. Vadnais Heights, Minn.) added 16 digs.
The Cougars 8-12, 3-6 UMAc host Martin Luther College Friday at 7:00 at the UMM P.E. center and then Bethany Lutheran College Saturday at 1:00.
A reminder that Saturday's match with BLC, Minnesota, Morris fans are reminded to wear pink for the Annual Dig Pink event.
