UMAC women's soccer preseason poll released, Cougars second

For Immediate Release: August 28, 2008 St. Paul, MN – The 2008 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) preseason women’s soccer poll has been announced and the top two from 2007, St. Scholastica and Minnesota, Morris are picked 1-2 in this years preseason coaches poll. St. Scholastica tallied seven first place votes and 49 points in the voting to take the number one spot. The Saints have won the last four regular season titles. Minnesota, Morris claimed the number two spot with 40 points, just one ahead of Northwestern College with 39. The Cougars were 12-2 in league play last year and lost a heart breaker in a shoot out to CSS in the post-season tournament champion ship game last year. UMM will open the 2008 season at home Friday, August 29th against Saint Mary’s at 3:00 pm. at the Cougar soccer Field. Conference action begins on September 19 when they host Bethany Lutheran College at the Cougar Soccer Field. To see the complete UMA release, click here.
