
The University of Minnesota-Morris men's basketball team opened the 2008-09 season Saturday with a tough 71-65 road loss at Concordia-College in Moorhead.
The Cougars trailed by five at the break at 32-27 and kept the margin to single digits through out the second half.
With 2:57 reaming, UMM cut the deficit to one at 58-57 on a lay-up by kyle Bruns (Fr. Brandon, Minn.)
The Cobbers the used a 7-0 run to open a 65-57 advantage with just over sixty seconds remaining in the game and held on the the six point win.
after starting the game ice cold, shooting just 28 percent (8-29) in the first half, UMM finished the game 23-57 (40.4%).
For the Cougars, (Jr. Mora, Minn.) led the way with 21 points, ten of those coming at the free-throw line.
Daniel Fragodt (So. Benson, Minn.) added 12 and Kendall Proell (Jr. Osakis, Minn.) had 10.
The Cougars will host Minnesota-Crookston this Saturday, November 22 at 5:00 at the UMM P.E. Center.
