Cougar volleyball coaches at the University of Minnesota, Morris will join with other Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) volleyball coaches to take part in the National Dig Pink Event on October 18 and 25. The Cougar volleyball team will host Bethany Lutheran College on Saturday, Oct. 25, at the UMM P.E. Center. The match begins at 1 p.m.
The Side-Out Foundation, a charitable organization that uses its resources to conduct research, educate and promote awareness for breast cancer, organizes an annual Dig Pink Event in which high school and collegiate volleyball programs are asked to designate a specific match in October as the Dig Pink Event match. As of early September, over 300 collegiate volleyball teams have committed to taking part in the Dig Pink Event, held in October—National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Minimal fundraising for the event is encouraged, however the primary goal is to boost awareness and promote breast cancer education while also exhibiting institutional willingness to participate in a community service type activity.
