More information on the Cougars Dig Pink volleyball match, Oct 25th

For immediate release: October 15, 2008: Morris, Minn - Saturday, October 25th that the University of Minnesota, Morris volleyball team will take part the Dig Pink event when they host Bethany Lutheran College at 1:00 p.m. in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) action at the UMM P.E. Center.

In association with October being National Breast Cancer Awareness month, the Cougars along with the seven other UMAC member-institutions have teamed up with the Side Out Foundation to promote awareness through “Dig Pink” events.

The Side Out Foundation, which is a charitable organization that uses its resources to conduct research, educate and promote awareness for breast cancer, annually organizes a Dig Pink event.

In addition to a great volleyball match that will be played, the Cougars have several different events planned

All fans are encouraged to wear something pink for the match.

There will be a serving contest between the second and third sets. Fans are eligible to participate if they are sporting pink.

Tons of prizes will be thrown out by the players during the announcing of the starting lineups. Breast cancer awareness pins will be sold during the match for $1.00 with ALL proceeds going to the Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation.

Pink cookies and cupcakes will be sold to help raise money.

Admission to the match is free, but donations to Breast Cancer are welcome.

And the Cougars will also be recognizing several local breast cancer survivors before the match.

There is a special secure Cougar website set up where fans can log onto and make a donation if they are not able to make it to the match on October 25th.
