UMAC men's soccer all-conference team anounced

The Cougar men's soccer team placed six members of the 2008 squad on this years UMAC All-Conference teams.

Named first team all-conference for UMM were Brent Diggs (Jr. Champlin, MInn.), Kelsey Duerr (Jr. Spring Lake Park, Minn.), Patrick O'Connor (Jr. Ham Lake, Minn.), and Tyler Simpson (So. Broomfield, Colo.).

Earning honorable mention-honors are Greg Borchers (Fr. Westminster, Colo.) and Justin O'Connor (Jr. Ham Lake, Minn.).

Diggs was selected as the UMAC Player of the Year. Diggs scored a league-high 15 goals in UMAC games this year while leading the Cougars to a 11-3 conference record (18-4 overall).

He finished the season with a career high 19 goals, 11 assists and 49 points.

After leading the University of Minnesota, Morris Men's Soccer team to its second straight Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) post-season title in just three years of existence, Cougar Head Coach Christian DeVries has been named the league's coach of the year for 2008.

Last year, UMM wont their first ever post-season tournament championship wit a 2-1 victory of St. Scholastica.

This year, the Cougars knocked off the regular season champion Saints 1-0 in the title game in Duluth.

In his three seasons at the helm of the men's program at Minnesota, Morris, DeVries has put together a 36-19-6 overall record and 22-14-6 in the UMAC.
